Is My Houseplant Judging Me? A Deep Dive into My Plant‘s Passive-Aggressive Behavior
The Day My Fiddle Leaf Fig Sided With My Mother
Let me preface this by saying I love my plants. I nurture them, sing to them (occasionally), and even shed a tear or two when a new leaf unfurls. However, lately, my relationship with my prized fiddle leaf fig, Ferdinand, has been… strained. It all started with a seemingly innocent visit from my mother.
Now, my mother possesses the plant whispering abilities of a Greek goddess. Seriously, she can revive a cactus from the brink of dust. So, naturally, she offered some unsolicited advice on Ferdinand’s care. I, being a fully capable plant parent (or so I thought), may have dismissed her suggestions with a tad too much confidence. That’s when it happened.
As I turned back from watering Ferdinand (with the “wrong” watering can, according to my mother), I swear I caught him… drooping. Not just a regular, thirsty droop, but a dramatic, theatrical wilt that screamed, “See? She never listens!” My mother, bless her soul, simply smiled knowingly and patted Ferdinand’s leaf. I’m pretty sure he leaned in.
