The Unexpected Joys of Being a Plant Parent (and Why You Should Join the Club)

From Black Thumb to Proud Plant Parent

Let’s be honest, I wasn’t always a natural at this whole plant parenting thing. In fact, I used to be the queen of killing cacti. Seriously, I could turn a succulent into a shriveled husk faster than you could say “photosynthesis.” But something changed a few years ago. Maybe it was a desperate attempt to bring some life into my apartment, which resembled a beige box more than a human dwelling. Whatever the reason, I decided to give plants another shot. And let me tell you, I’m so glad I did!

1. Plants Are the Chillest Roommates Ever

Forget messy roommates who steal your food and leave dirty dishes in the sink. Plants are the ultimate low-maintenance companions. They won’t borrow your clothes without asking (though they might appreciate a spritz of water now and then). They don’t care if you blast cheesy pop music while you clean. And they’ll never judge your questionable dance moves. Trust me, plants have seen it all.

Plus, they offer a unique brand of companionship. Need someone to listen to you vent about your day? Your trusty fiddleleaf fern won’t interrupt with unsolicited advice. Feeling stressed? Studies show that caring for plants can actually reduce stress levels.
