From Black Thumb to Budding Botanist (Well, Almost)
Let’s be honest, my history with houseplants was less than stellar. More like a graveyard of neglected greenery. So, when my well-intentioned friend gifted me a delicate fern, I accepted it with a mix of hope and trepidation. “Don’t worry,” she chirped, “it’s low-maintenance!” Famous last words, right?
Turns out, even “low-maintenance” requires some level of, well, maintenance. This fern, with its lacy fronds and dramatic drooping, became my unexpected life coach. Who knew a plant could teach me so much about, well, life?
Lesson #1: Patience is a Virtue (and Essential for Plant Parents)
Remember those “low-maintenance” words? I took them to heart. Too much to heart. I watered sparingly, assuming a little H2O would last this resilient wonder weeks. Spoiler alert: it didn’t. The drooping worsened, the vibrant green faded, and my fern looked ready to surrender to the plant afterlife.
