The Unexpected Life Lessons I Learned from a Houseplant

My Little Green Guru

Let’s be honest, I’m about as far from a “plant person” as you can get. I’m more of a “oops, did I forget to water you again?” kind of person. So, when my well-meaning friend gifted me a houseplant for my birthday, I accepted it with a smile and a silent prayer for its survival.

I named him Percy (because every plant deserves a name, right?), and placed him on my windowsill, fully expecting our relationship to be short-lived. But to my surprise, Percy thrived! He sprouted new leaves, stood tall and proud, and even seemed to perk up when I’d ramble about my day.

It was then I realized: this little green guy had some serious life lessons to teach me.

Lesson 1: Resilience is Key (Even When You’re Potted)

There were times, I’ll admit, when I neglected poor Percy. I’d forget to water him, leave him in the scorching sun, or accidentally bump his pot, sending leaves scattering across the floor.
