It started innocently enough. A wrong number, a polite “Oops, sorry!” and that was that. But little did I know, this was just the tip of the iceberg. You see, dear reader, somewhere out there, someone – or something – messed up, and my perfectly ordinary phone number became tethered to… well, the extraordinary.
The Case of the Clogging Catastrophe
Picture this: I’m elbow-deep in cookie dough, phone tucked between my ear and shoulder, trying to decipher what my friend means by “add a pinch of salt” (seriously, what does that even MEAN?). Suddenly, a frantic voice cuts through the recipe instructions. “My toilet! It’s overflowing! Help! Are you the plumber?”
Now, I may be a decent baker (on a good day), but plumbing? I wouldn’t know a wrench from a whisk. After some back and forth, involving a lot of “Ma’am, I think you have the wrong number” and “But the ad said to call this number!” I managed to direct her to a 24/7 plumbing service. Crisis averted? Not quite. The cherry on top? She called back the next day to thank me for the “excellent plumbing advice.”
