My Thumb Is More of a Withering Branch
Let’s be honest, my thumbs have never been particularly green. In fact, I’m pretty sure I’ve managed to kill a cactus with kindness (too much water, who knew?). So, naturally, when my well-meaning friend gifted me a houseplant – a supposedly “easy to care for” peace lily – I accepted with a healthy dose of skepticism. Little did I know, this little plant would teach me more about life than I ever expected.
Lesson 1: Bouncing Back: Even When You Wilt, You Can Bloom Again
My journey with Percy the Peace Lily (yes, I named him) started out rocky, to say the least. I managed to overwater him within the first week, sending him into a dramatic, droopy decline.
Lesson 2: Letting Go: Sometimes You Need to Cut Back to Grow
As Percy thrived, he started to get a little…wild. Leaves were shooting out in every direction, some turning brown at the edges. It was time for another intervention. Armed with a pair of gardening shears and a deep breath, I followed the advice of a YouTube tutorial and gave Percy a much-needed trim.
