My Little Green Teacher: A Snake Plant Story
My own foray into plant parenthood began innocently enough, with a humble little snake plant named Stan (don’t judge, I’m a sucker for alliteration). I’d heard snake plants were practically invincible, perfect for a notorious plant killer like myself. Stan, however, had other plans.
He went through phases of dramatic drooping, suspicious browning, and once, a particularly traumatic leaf-shedding incident that left me convinced I was single-handedly destroying the Amazon rainforest one houseplant at a time. But through trial, error, and a frankly embarrassing amount of Googling, I learned to read Stan’s subtle cues. Turns out, even the “easy” plants have a thing or two to teach us. Who knew?
