We’ve all been there, fellow parents. Standing on the precipice of another school year, optimistic about our involvement. We envision ourselves as Pinterest-worthy volunteers, whipping up batches of homemade, organic, gluten-free (because, of course) cupcakes for the annual bake sale.
The Great Bake Sale Debacle of 2023
Oh, the naiveté! This year, I went all in. I’m talking homemade buttercream frosting infused with real vanilla beans (the good kind!), locally sourced organic flour, and sprinkles made from actual rainbows (or at least that’s what the label claimed). I even roped my kids into helping, which, as we all know, is a recipe for disaster disguised as “quality family time.”
Fast forward to the actual bake sale. My perfectly arranged cupcakes, lovingly displayed on a vintage cake stand (because presentation is everything!), were decimated. And by decimated, I mean there was frosting smeared on faces, sprinkles ground into the pavement, and a rogue cupcake inexplicably lodged in the basketball hoop.
