Confessions of a Former Plant Killer
Let’s be honest, my thumbs used to be anything but green. In fact, I’m pretty sure I could wilt a plastic plant just by looking at it. Maybe it was the pandemic, maybe it was a sudden craving for chlorophyll, but I decided to give plants another try. And you know what? I’m completely, utterly hooked.
Benefits of Plant Parenthood: More Than Just Pretty Green Roommates
Talking to Horace aside, I’ve discovered a whole host of unexpected joys since becoming a plant parent. Here are just a few:
- A renewed sense of responsibility (who knew?): Taking care of something that relies on me has been surprisingly fulfilling. And yes, even watering them has become strangely satisfying.
- A boost of zen in a chaotic world: There’s something incredibly calming about tending to plants, watching them grow, and appreciating their simple beauty. It’s like a mini meditation session every day.
- An excuse to decorate with whimsy: Let’s be real, plants are the ultimate home decor upgrade. They add life, color, and texture to any space. Plus, they’re a great conversation starter (especially if you have a plant named Horace).
