Scrolling through Instagram, you’re suddenly bombarded with images of impossibly lush, green sanctuaries. “Plant people,” they call themselves, radiating serenity and a magical ability to keep even the most high-maintenance ferns alive. So, naturally, you think, “Hey, I could do that!”
How My Thumb Turned Out Not-So-Green
Spoiler alert: I am not a plant person. In fact, I’m pretty sure I could kill a cactus with my bare hands (though, to be fair, I haven’t tested that theory… yet). My journey into the world of houseplants began, as these things often do, with the best of intentions. I envisioned a mini jungle oasis in my living room, a testament to my newfound green thumb.
What I got instead was a slow, agonizing demise of a perfectly healthy peace lily named Phil.
