The Unintentional Collection I’ve Amassed (and What It Says About Me)

We all have them, don’t we? Those random objects that seem to multiply in the dark corners of our homes. I’m not talking about stamps or coins – I’m talking about the truly bizarre collections we amass without even realizing it. The ones that make our friends raise an eyebrow and say, “Why do you have so many…?”

The Case of the Disappearing Pens & Multiplying Wine Corks

It all started innocently enough. One day, I found myself with an extra pen – a freebie from a conference, no doubt. Then another one appeared, this time a promotional pen from a local bakery (because who doesn’t love free advertising with their morning coffee?). Before I knew it, I had a drawer overflowing with pens, most of which had never met a sheet of paper. It was then that I realized I had a problem – a pen problem.

But the pens were just the tip of the iceberg. My unintentional collecting didn’t stop there. Oh no, it branched out into other, even stranger territories. Take, for instance, my impressive (and completely accidental) collection of wine corks. I don’t even drink that much wine! Yet, somehow, I’ve managed to accumulate a drawer full of these little wooden wonders. Maybe I subconsciously believe they hold some magical power? Or perhaps I’m just holding onto the remnants of good times (and good wine) past?
